In the summer of 1992, construction preparation was underway for the new SDCH 3-story hospital expansion. Demolition of a home to the east of the new building site uncovered an old pioneer log cabin inside of the modern house on the site. Research determined it was built before the turn of the century by the Jeremiah Willey family. SDCH realized the historical significance of the landmark and worked with the city for a solution to save it. Construction of SDCH’s new addition was delayed as Bountiful City moved the cabin to the City Park. The cabin was renovated to the proper pioneer look of the 1854 era, where the cabin stands as a reminder of the past and pays homage to those early settlers of our community.
