Gordon W. Bennett is selected as SDCH administrator, replacing Mr. William P. Moore who takes the position as administrator for the new acute care Lakeview Hospital when it opens in autumn of 1976.
SDCH closes as an acute care facility, transferring its hospital patients to Lakeview upon its opening in September 1976. SDCH undergoes a six-month major remodel in order to serve a new role in the community to receive extended-care patients in April, 1977.
Mr. Bennett served as administrator from 1976 to 2009. We doubt if there are many others in our industry who possessed his depth of knowledge and innovation at the time for skilled nursing services, which gained him the admiration of industry colleagues.
