First discussions were held in 1950 by area physicians on the need for a hospital in Bountiful. Planning talks continued for the next six years; private funding was obtained and 600 $250-bonds were sold in order to begin construction and purchase equipment. Official incorporation date was December 22, 1960 and SDCH opened doors to its first patients in 1961.
